What Can Oprah Winfrey Teach Us About Life and Success?
On The Importance of Self-awareness
Your presence, your connection to yourself are far more important than what you do or what you have. Your self-awareness is ultimately what fuels you in whatever it is that you do. Take the time to know yourself, to know who you are and what you are here for. In other words discover your inner self and your calling.
Finding out your calling doesn’t always come easy but cultivating a level of self-awareness that will keep connected to your inner voice will bring you further towards that goal.
Always listen to your inner voice first it always leads you to the best decisions to yourself. Follow your instincts as it leads you the best decisions.
No one knows you better than yourself, therefore you must trust yourself to know what is best for you.
On Life Purpose
Once you have developed a good level of self-awareness here is what is going to happen. Even if you are unable to find your life purpose, you will feel, you will know it when something is not the right thing for you. When the sole act of doing something feels unnatural then that is not want you really want in your life. And knowing what you don’t want is a great start towards discovering what you really want in life because it leads you to figuring out what your aspirations are.
Have a vision of what your future is or you want it to be. And once you have that vision always bear it in mind no matter what you are doing. Dream big aim high.
Everyone around you might doubt and that should not discourage you. Every single person you know might say you are going to fail, some will even go as far as saying it to your face, don’t get discouraged. As long as it feels right to you move forward and carry on.
The best way to figure out what is your life purpose is to listen to your inner voice and to pay attention to what you are living right now. It that really what you want? Do you feel fulfilled? Ask yourself those questions and be honest with in your answers.

On Dreams and Goals
You get what you believe you will get. Start by visualizing what you want. Visualizing what you want will not only make you feel better but also make it more real. If you can see it and believe, it becomes a lot easier to achieve.
That is certainly not all it takes to accomplish your dreams. You will you have to work for it. Nothing happens so easily. You will have to put in the time the effort and the energy needed.

On Actions and Intentions
Once you have discovered who you are and cultivated a certain level of self-awareness, make sure all you intentions, decisions and actions are fueled by who you are and what your contribution to the world is.
Don’t do anything without being fully clear about WHY you intend to do it because the intention is going to determine the outcome of whatever you have set your mind to.
On Making Decisions
Should your decisions be fuelled by emotions or logic?
Find the right balance between emotions and logic. Being purely emotional in your decisions can lead to making a lot of mistakes and logic only can take away any emotional connection you have with those decisions.
On Happiness in Life
Believe you are worthy of happiness. Never sell yourself short; fulfillment, joy, success and love are part of your birth rights. You have to believe and never stop believing.
It is important to hold onto the essence and principles of what you want for yourself. You deserve and are worthy of the best of what the world has to offer. Understand your values and hold on to your belief.
On Balancing the Importance Personal Fulfillment
We have all heard this somewhere “she is so full of herself “or said it for that matter. It carries a bad connotation as if it is not socially acceptable, something you should be ashamed of. You don’t have anything to give that you don’t have. If you don’t take care of yourself, if you don’t keep yourself full how do you plan on caring for others?
Don’t be afraid of honoring, loving yourself only then you can offer what you have to the whole world.
On Insecurities and Doubts
Once you have put yourself top of the list, shut down that little voice in your head that tells you are not good enough. The insecurity we feel is the number one issue we all have. It is not the boss who asked you to rewrite that report, it is not the boyfriend who wants you to wear sexier outfits, or your mother-in-law.
The problem is that you let to people get into you head, you let them influence what you think of yourself. That is the reason why you always want to measure up.
On Mistakes and Failures
In life everyone you meet is a teacher for you. Even a bad situation is a teaching situation to learn better whether in a relationship, with your boss, your family or your friends. Because you have a supreme destiny there won’t be any mistake. It is only when you are not listening to your instincts that you get taken off track. You get in a wrong relationship, wrong business or take the wrong job. But everything, every little mistake will ultimately lead you to the same path. Failure isn’t an option, there are no wrong paths and every step back or disappointment is a way to move you to another direction.
You will win but you will also lose- often. Don’t be afraid of losing because you get as much from your losses as you get from your successes. Your losses are here to wake you up.
If you ever feel like giving up take a break, get in tune with your emotions, listen to that inner voice again, think about what the next right move is and follow your instincts.
